Rádio Axé Brasil

Rádio Axé Brasil is a Brazilian internet radio station based in the city of Salvador, in the state of Bahia, that focuses on the newest axé hits as well as the classic successes from the 1980s that popularized the genre in Brazil and worldwide. It airs music by major axé artists and bands, for example, Ivete Sangalo, Claudia Leitte, Asa de Águia, Timbalada, and Banda Eva. The word “axé” itself is a Yoruba term meaning “positive energy” or “force” and is a greeting in the Afro-Brazilian religion Candomblé. The station’s focus on axé music places it firmly within the Bahian Carnival/party culture; axé itself is deeply tied to Salvador’s musical and carnival traditions.
